Belarus is  a  landlocked , generally flat country  occupies an area of 207,600 square kilometers, or slightly smaller than the  United Kingdom . Its neighbors are  Russia  to the east and northeast,  Latvia  to the north,  Lithuania  to the northwest,  Poland  to the west, and  Ukraine  to the south. Its extension from north to south is 560 km, from west to east is 650 km. Northern Belarus has hilly landscape with many lakes and gently sloping ridges. The highest point in Belarus is the 346-meter  Mount Dzyarzhynskaya . Belarus's 3,000 streams and 4,000 lakes are major features of the landscape and are used for floating timber, shipping, and power generation. Major rivers are the west-flowing  Western Dvina  and  Nyoman  rivers, and the south-flowing  Dniapro River , the  Berezina ,  Sozh , and Prypyat rivers . Lake Narach , the country's largest lake, covers 79.6 square kilometers. Other big lakes are  the Osveya  (52.8 km 2 ),  the Chervonoye  (43.8 km 2 ), 

Lake Naroch I would strongly advise you to go to the lake Naroch. It’s a one of the most popular tourists attractions in Belarus. It is an excellent place for relaxation. It’s the largest  natural lake in Belarus. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the forests, birds, grasslands and the lake.

  One of the most famous mysterious places in Belarus   is Golshany. You can meet two ghosts there - the black monk and the white lady . The White Lady is not very friendly . The story of the White Lady is a very tragic one. Four centuries ago Paul Stefan Sapieha, the owner of Golshany, gave money to build a Catholic church and a monastery. The date of consecration was appointed to the August 6, 1618. The builders worked hard, but one of the walls of the monastery collapsed all the time. And they decided  to bring a secret sacrifice - one of the wives of the builders, who would come first to her husband to bring him lunch. The most beautiful wife of a young builder came, and she was bricked into the wall. Now her ghost can be seen in the ruins of the castle. Another legend describes a poor young man Gremislav Valyuzhinich who loved charming Princess Hanna-Gordislavu Golshanskaya. The girl also fell in love with the young man.
